Developed during Mulberry Tree’s residency at Cité internationale des arts in Paris from January to April 2026, HOME | Chez Soi brought the residency to a close through a full day of artistic presentation, dialogue, and exchange. The programme connected an inclusive storytelling performance with a discussion on accessibility in the arts and an open studio exploring the creative process behind the work.

An Inclusive Multidisciplinary Storytelling Performance
HOME| Chez Soi is a multidisciplinary storytelling performance exploring displacement and belonging, and reimagining home as a place, a body, a memory, or an artistic space.
The performance brought together nine collaborators, including seven storytellers—four artists with disabilities—alongside a director and co-editor. Two storytellers performed live, while the stories of others were presented through documentary video, creating a layered encounter between live performance, personal testimony, and visual storytelling.
Presented at the Auditorium of Cité internationale des arts on 1 April 2026, the performance welcomed approximately 50–60 audience members.
Produced by Mulberry Tree, with the support of the French Embassy in Egypt, Institut français d’Égypte, and Cité internationale des arts, in partnership with Honey Bees, Red Oak, and Souffleurs de Sens.

Panel Discussion
Accessibility & the Inclusive Arts and Culture Scene in Paris
Following the performance, the programme shifted from storytelling to conversation, bringing together practitioners working at the intersection of accessibility and culture in Paris.
The discussion explored practical approaches to accessible artistic creation, opportunities for international artists to connect with local organisations, and pathways toward greater inclusion of artists with disabilities within the arts and culture sector.
Representatives from Accès Culture and Red Oak shared their experiences, perspectives, and practical insights into developing more accessible and inclusive cultural practices.
Part 03
Open Studio
Process, Accessibility & Collective Storytelling
The day concluded with an open studio inviting audiences behind the scenes of HOME | Chez Soi and into the process of its creation.
Documentation, research materials, creative fragments, and collected narratives were displayed throughout the studio, tracing the project’s development from its initial questions to its final presentation.
Rather than presenting a finished work alone, the open studio made the process visible—showing how artists, collaborators, and partner organisations came together, how stories were connected, and how accessibility was considered as an integral part of both the artistic methodology and the research process.
The space offered an informal opportunity for visitors to explore, ask questions, exchange perspectives, and engage directly with the ideas and relationships that shaped HOME | Chez Soi.
